This is the salt water lagoon at Airlie Beach. It's about 10 yards from the sea (behind the camera), but is separate due to the "stingers" or Jellyfish which tend to kill people in the summer months.

About half an inch to the right of this picture is a Heron who didn't want his picture taking.

Decide for yourself how to pronounce it! It varies. Nice front for beach and shopping etc. Not too tacky.

This is on the Sunshine Coast north of Brisbane, a less famous, but nicer and quieter counterpart to the Gold Coast at Surfer's Paradise.

For the Golfers, this is where the PGA Tour is at present (not on the beach, obviously) at the Hyatt Coolum Hotel course.

This is from the 26th floor of the Hi Surf Apartments in Surfer's Paradise.

It was surprisingly noisy up here, even at night. Plenty of traffic around. But great to sit out here and have your morning cuppa.

The brightly coloured 'V' shaped thing is a Bungy Cradle, where, two at a time, people get catapulted into the air ...for fun.

The waves here were deceptive. Didn't look much and weren't very high, but powerful enough.

Once I'd caught one good wave I'd usually go back to the beach and savour it!

The kids are now both confident in the breakers too, and Lea isn't far behind !
